Scanpst is a utility provided by microsoft to repair pst files (outlook data files) which has problems. If problems are found, it will attempt to rebuild the file to allow it work without any errors.
The program ScanPST.exe are located in various locations in the PC, depending on both the version of Microsoft Office and windows.
Outlook 2019 Scan pst file location.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\office16\
Outlook 2016 Scanpst location.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\root\Office16
Outlook 2013 Scanpst file location.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office15
Scanpst.exe location for Outlook 2010.
C:\Program Files(x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14
Scan PST location for Outlook 2007.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft office\Office 12\
The above location is based on the assumption that the 32bit microsoft office is installed in a 64bit Windows. This is generally the combination for modern windows PC.
If you are not able to locate the scanpst utility in “Program Files(x86)”, try to head over to “Program Files” instead.
If your computer has 8GB or more ram, it is likely you are running 64bit windows most of the time.
